Smiling Moose w/ BIBLE OF THE DEVIL, VON DANE - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
Artists
Satanic Bat is a 4-piece heavy rock cartel hailing from
Pennsylvania. Their sound crushes up giant horse pills of southern
rock, 70's psychedelia, blues, doom, and even boogie jazz in a heavy
metal mortar & pestle and passes it around the party. Tight
structured riffs twist around spacey improv jams. Every set's a
different trip. But you can always bet yer ashes that the Bat's keepin'
the roach lit for the bygone days of vociferous acid rock.
The band was founded in 2005 as a 2-piece experiment in stoner volume,
anchored by the thunderous bashing of Sven Sobeck and wet-cement rock
riffs from JD Howell. After a short period of crumbling the walls
of an abandoned church basement, they welcomed the spacey tones and
monster pedal collection of experimental guitarist Dave Warren.
Finally, the solid bottom end hammering of Jon Milliren completed the
bastard brew after a year's worth of shows logged without a bass
player.
With the full lineup in place, the Bat has spent the last few years
jamming heavy and pummeling the stages of the Eastern U.S. along side
some of the finest names on the current stoner/sludge/doom radar
including Dixie Witch, Saviours, Orodruin, Valkyrie, Treasure Cat,
Negative Reaction, Admiral Browning, Rebreather, Black Skies, Countach,
Village of Dead Roads, Lo Pan, Argus, and lots more.
In addition to several self-released EP's, Satanic Bat has recently put
forth the full-length “Tales from the Southland, Tales from the
Sea” via the OSSR label. On top of several glowing reviews,
the record has received college radio and commercial airplay
nationwide, as well as internationally in France, UK, Poland, Norway,
Sweden, Czech Republic, and Chile.
